Question re "idiom?"
Please can you tell me what "don't be too detailed" means?
Does that mean that i'm annoying the person, or invading privacy, or asking too much?

If this is said before you say something, they want a short version. If this is about asking them, they don't want to give too much away, so it's privacy. I don't think it necessarily means you're annoying the person, but it might well indicate that the person isn't very patient.
