problem with 'As'

How would you paraphrase the following sentences? I cannot decide between two possibilities.

I take the subway to work every day, as do most of the people in my office.

paraphrase #1: I take the subway to work every day. Most of the people in my office do, too.
#2: I take the subway to work every day, just as most of the people in my office do.


The book was banned in the US, as were two subsequent books.
#1: The book was banned in the US. Two subquent books were banned, too.
#2: The book was banned in the US, just as two subsequent books did.

For [1], I'd say, the same manner or way. Informally, "just like":

[1] I take the subway to work every day, as do/just like most of the people in my office.
