Could you please tell me the meanings of the two bracketed phrases?

1. They went down to Madame Reba's Palace of Sweet Pleasure. And father,
this is sure one bad, wicked place. [They got a man sells tickets on the
bug] -but they also got these strutting, bad-blood, tail-shaking nigger
gals.

2. Love Jones was there, and she is one bad colored girl. Willie drank liquor
and [shimmied around with her] until fisrt thing you know he was in a
fight.

I don't really know what on the bug means but I will taka a guess and say it probably means on the fly... fly being a bug . Sounds like some English dialect.
on the fly = on the go, in a hurry.
shimmied around - shaking his body around her?
