alive and kicking
Dear teachers,
Would you tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?
I suppose if I died you’d cry a bit. That would be nice of you and very proper. But I’m all alive and kicking. Don’t you find me rather a nuisance? (W. S. Maugham, “The Bread-Winner”)
A man's got to keep himself all alive and kicking, or where would his business be? (J. B. Priestley, "The Doomsday Man")
alive and kicking = full of live, brimming over with live/ vitality
Thank you for your efforts.
Regards,
V
