Default What is the difference between those words?

zoom / surge / rise / grow / increase / jump / soar

I know they are somewhat similiar. But can you tell me exactly in which context
they should be used ? Particularly, which words should be used in an essay ?

Sorry for the silly question.

zoom- can mean 'move fast'- prices zoomed up. Also used in photography. Not for academice writing IMO
surge- sudden rise, especially when unexpected - can be used in essays
rise- basic term for going up- doesn't give idea about speed- can be used in essays
grow- basic term for increase in size- no idea of rate or amount- can be used in essays
increas- same as above
jump- go up fast- OK for essays, but I'd use surge/soar
soar- go up very high- can be used in essays

Thanks for your clarifying reply!

I find this very useful. Maybe I will continue asking for some questions in the future. Would you mind answering them? I would be very grateful!
