It’s /kənˈtræktər/ for me.
According to dictionaries, con in 'contractor' as in a construction contractor can be pronounced in rhyme with both 'conference' and 'construction'.
But I hear everyone pronounce it in rhyme with conference. Have you ever heard people pronounce it in rhyme with construction? Thank you.
It’s /kənˈtræktər/ for me.
I've never heard it said with the same opening sound as in construction.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
