| i'm confused about the usage of suggest. Do the following 4 sentences mean the same thing? 1) I suggested to John that he should take his wife to a fancy restaurant. 2) I suggested John should take his wife to a fancy restaurant. 3) I suggested John's taking his wife to a fancy restaurant. 4) I suggested to John taking his wife to a fancy restaurant. actually #3,4 sound awkward, but i can't explain why. Could you help? Thanks in advance~~ |
