    Default run-in

    Dear teachers,

Would you tell me whether I am right about my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentences?

Presidents Johnson, Ford and Carter all had run-ins with North Korea during their times in office while the more contemporary administrations of Bill Clinton and both Bush presidencies have had to deal with the North's growing nuclear ambitions.

John had a nasty run-in with his boss and was fired.

    run-in = a quarrel or an argument

My car was wracked when I had run-in with a small truck.

    run-in (with) = collision (with)

    Thanks for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V
