Hey people!
You haven't met me before since I'm new here. I'm from Hungary and I have stumbled across this forum by chance. It'd be good to learn about expanding my vocabulary in an efficient way, permanently. Me and many others have problems with this as they can't learn new expressions and words permanently.
As for me:
I'd like to become a translator so that I can translate blueprints, contracts and such to Hungarian that were written in English/German. I'm going to study in a university/college English and German linguistics.
This forums seems to be a good means to learn about new things, and ask about things that I'm unsure of.
Hi, sorery for not replying earlier, but I've been stuck offline for a few days and am catching up with the forum.
The forum should very useful for dealing with any specific doubts or problems you may have, which could help with your translating. Also, as you can interact with so many native speakers, it should be a useful source of vocab, etc. I have found that I have learned a huge amount about American English from the forum, which has helped me greatly as a British English speaker, so you should be able to find the same here.![]()
Hi! I was interested in new learning techniques to stick the words in my memory for ever.
Some of my techinques are the following:
Writing down words on cards is a useful way of learning because you don't learn them in a 'linear' way.
Other good technique is to imply every word we want to learn in a small story or short sentences.
Stick them on the fridge door- constant revision when you are doing something else.![]()
