Default contract

Is this sentence correct:
1-We signed a contract with them for them to build us a house.

Sounds okay to my North American ears. Mind you, the added "for them" seems somewhat superfluous since 'them' and 'them' are coreferent:

We signed a contract with them to build us a house.

All the best,
