use of "graduate"
I hear "graduate high school" and "graduate from high school" all the time. Somehow, the latter sits well, and the former grates on my sensibilities. This may be a regional variation and I should learn to tolerate the former, but it's driving me nuts. Any thoughts?
As a British English speaker, they both sound odd- we only graduate from universities. ;-)
I graduated from high school. That makes me a high school graduate.
I left school and graduated from university. ;-)
