Hi, Teacher,
Could you tell me the meaning of the phrase "cut the buck" in the following sentence?
She is so shamed over losing her hair and that bandage on her head tat it just seems like it makers her [cut the buck] all the time.
Thanks a lot.
I would also like to know the meaning. I have googled for some time to try to get something but didn't get anything
My general dictionary gives one explanation for "cut the buck"
It's "manage well" but I don't seem to understand how it would fit into that sentence.
Would you write it here?Originally Posted by ARCHIE

Hi
My general dictionary is relatively good but the problem is that it explains the "cut the buck" with only two words;thus leaving a lot of room for misintepretation.
The way I understand these two words in my own mother tongue could be the following:
1)manage well
2)cope with
3)be succesful
4)fare
5)survive
Hopefully somoone comes up with better suggestions than I just did.
Still cannot make head or tails of that sentence
