Put on your coat - You have one coat and you should put it on now.
Put on a coat - There is more than one coat available, put one on now.
Put on the coat - There is one coat and you should put in on now.
Put on any coat - There are a number of coats, put one on now.
Put on another coat - The coat you selected is not the right one, get another one.
Put on the red coat - of all the coats available, you should use the red one.
