Is the following sentence acceptable?
If they do not have appropriate plans for health insurance, they won't be able to afford medical treatment when they are old.

In the absence of a response from a teacher, as a NES, but not a teacher, I would personally be happy with the sentence as written, other than using the word "don't" to correspond with the use of the word "won't".
