Half
"Literally, half their roster is made up of D-Leaguers."
I'm wondering if one should write "half of their roster" in more formal English.
Thanks!

Half preceding a noun group beginning with a determiner seems to be more common. It's got nothing to do with register, I guess.

I didn't really understand engee's reply.
Is "half their roster" inappropriate in formal English?
Thanks!
