Default lose OR lack

'If a company abolishes the mandatory retirement age, the workplace
could [ lose / lack ] energy(or vigor).

In the above example, which is better, 'lose' or 'lack'?

Also, 'vigor' is better than 'energy'?

How about:


If a company abolishes mandatory retirement age, the workplace could lose its vitality/ sparkle.

Or else:
...it could lose the youthful energy of younger employees.
