Dear Teacher,

I have difficulty understanding the following passage or sentences. Would you please do me a favor?

1. One you enter this it must be all. First and foremost. Your work now and
forever. You must give of your whole self without stint, without hope of
personal return, without rest or hope of rest.

2. It must be either all or nothing. Either yes or no.

3. His neck twisted at a broken angle.

(Do these sentences talk about beginning... a new job? A new school? Becoming Superman?)

One you enter this it must be all.
ONCE you enter, this must be all.

Here, ONCE is a conjunction meaning "after".
After you enter, start, begin, this must be all, everything.

First and foremost.
<This thing/project/school/job> has to be the FIRST thing in your life, the FIRST thing you think about every day, every minute... it must be FOREMOST, in the FRONT or FORE of everything else.. in FRONT of wanting to go eat, in FRONT of wanting to go play...


Your work now and forever.
Wow... I want to be paid a lot of money for this job.

You must give of your whole self without stint,
You must give all your energy, all your brains, all your body, with LIMIT (STINT),


without hope of personal return,
without wanting to be given anything... you are doing this only for OTHER people, you are not doing this to get money, nice things, etc.


without rest or hope of rest.
Without sleeping, or even without wanting to sleep.

It must be either all or nothing. Either yes or no.
Your choice, your decision, must be 100% yes, or 100% no. Do not start this unless you want to do ALL of it.

His neck twisted at a broken angle.
I can move/tilt/twist my neck a little bit to the side, near my shoulder. BUT if my neck bones are broken, my head/neck will move/tilt/twist even more... so if you look at my VERY tilted/twisted neck, you KNOW it is broken.

So, his neck was twisted soooooo much, it was at a BROKEN ANGLE, an angle that only broken necks could twist.
