I have difficulty understanding the following two passages. Would you please do me a favor?

1. To what extent do male journalists regard their female colleagues as
deviating from these norms in their approaches to validating objective
truth-claims?

2. In attempting to prioritize for discussion the ‘objective’ journalist’s claim of
referential transparency, this issue of how relations of patriarchy inform
the ‘discipline of objectivity’ as a seemingly apolitical normative ideal is
critical.
