| Would you please kindly help me with the following passage? I don't quite understand. The most difficult question for women is how to transform media institutions in a way that will give a voice to their aspirations and experiences without falling back on an unchanging and undifferentiated definition of what it means to be female. Thanks a lot. |

| The most difficult question for women The hardest thing for women is how to transform media institutions is how to change television shows, newspapers, radio shows in a way that will give a voice with stories, TV shows, articles, books by women to their aspirations and experiences about women's dreams, goals, wishes, desires, and the things they have done without falling back on an unchanging and undifferentiated definition of what it means to be female. without the women's stories saying "all women want the same things, they are all interested in the same things, they all want the same things"... what they want never changes, and they all think the exact same way. It would be good if a Muslim could change a USA newspaper and add a story about Muslims in America... BUT, if he wrote that story, would he say "this is what EVERY Muslim in America thinks? These are the dreams, wishes, hopes of EVERY Muslim in America?" How do you write a story about 'women,' or 'Muslims,' or 'Americans in France,' without sounding like EVERY woman, Muslim or American is EXACTLY like the story? |
