If I have a character, eg Mary. I put 4 Marys in a picture and ask the children to find them. Should I write:

    Please find all the Marys

    or

    Please find all Marys

    or

    Please find all Mary?

You asked the same question. The answer is still the same.

    Find the Marys.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

We are thinking should we be telling the children

Let us find Mary or Let us find the Marys

    Our flow is:

    1. Tell the children a story of Mary.
    2. "Let us find Mary in the picture"
or "Let us find the Marys in the picture."
    3. ask a child to come out. "(Child's name), can you please find one Mary?" (asking the child to point out one of the Marys in the picture)
    4. (at the end of the activity) "Great, we found all the Marys."

If in this context, do u recommend we use in #2

Let us find Mary in the picture

    or

Let us find the Marys in the picture

    or

Let us find all the Marys in the picture?

Thanks very much in advance and your advice is much appreciated.

    Our flow is:

    1. Tell the children a story of Mary.(In the context, the children are told a story of Mary (first mention). So, they have a prior knowedge of Mary in mind.)
    2. "Let us find Mary in the picture"
or "Let us find the Marys in the picture." (As having been told previously, the children are expected to have known who Marys are -The noun Mary is defined by previous mention, so the definite article should be used.)
    3. ask a child to come out. "(Child's name), can you please find one Mary?" (asking the child to point out one of the Marys in the picture)
    4. (at the end of the activity) "Great, we found all the Marys."
