Verb needed

Vocabulary question: Are experiences something you "get", "receive" ... "experience"? I'm trying to figure out what verb belongs here (in relation to a young person fresh out of high school):

"She wants to get out and see the world and ___________ some valuable experiences before starting to concern herself with jobs and a career."

Experience is something you 'gain'

As it says 'experiences' I'd go with 'live'...

I like to have experiences. At least I used to when I was younger.
