As I go upstairs I get this funny feeling that our Susan's not very happy with me. It's strange that, innit, with mothers and daughters? You seem to know what the other's thinking, even when they're not there.
I'm not sure the meaning of this paragraph. Any help? Pls.

What do you understand from it? "Innit" is a colloquial abbreviation for "isn't it".

Re: Meaning
I guess the writer means the mothers and the daughers shouldn't feel strange each other and should be very close. There is a connection in their heart and understand well each other when they are apart.

Yes, you've understood it quite well.

Re: Meaning
As I go upstairs, I have an odd feeling that our daughter is not very happy. We have a strange/inusual/surprising situation with mothers and daughters, don't we? One (either mother or daughter) seems to know what the other (either daughter or mother) is thinking, even when that other person is not present.
