Is this sentence well worded? Any way to improve it?

'The very one' is out of place here. There is only one use I can think of for this, and here are a couple of examples:

"I'm so angry with myself for losing my watch - I've searched everywhere for it."
"I found this under the table yesterday - could it be yours?"
"Yes, it's the very one!"

"We need somebody special to talk at the Book Club annual dinner next month. Any ideas?"
"How about John Mortimer - good stories, a good speaker and he lives nearby."
"I think he'd be the very person."

So 'the very one' means 'exactly the right one'. The important part is 'the very', which can be followed by various words, according to the context - one, thing, person, answer, etc.

Check your verbs. Many films were shown last year. Triple Trap was one of the most interesting. Therefore 'TT was one of the most interesting films that were shown last year'. I hope that looks good to you. It does to me!

Without further context, I can't see much need for the very film; it's an emphatic form and the film would suffice.

I agree. Context is everything - how you phrase it depends on what you are trying to say.

The situation in your second example seems to be that your film club only shows one film per year, and someone was just now talking to you about a great new film called Triple Trap.

Hence you responded to him by saying that TT was the very film that your club showed last year. Unlikely.
