    Default Designations

    Hello everyone!

What is the correct way to write designations in the text?

    E.g.
    The KM1 and KM2 compressors
    or
    The compressors KM1 and KM2 ?

    The SV1 safety valve
    or

    The safety valve SV1?

    Thank you?

I'd say KM1 and KM2 compressors and SV1 safety valve.

I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

    I am not a teacher.

Me, three, but there is a place for "safety valve SV1" and "compressors KM1 and KM2" (no article) in tech writing. Can you give us a sample sentence?

First, thank you for your support.

Well, the sentences are usually like this:

The SV1 safety valve is installed in the auxiliary pipeline.
The KM1 and KM2 compressors supply air to the working chamber.

    ...sort of...

You can do either, without any change in meaning.

The SV1 safety valve is installed in the auxiliary pipeline.
Safety valve SV1 is installed in the auxiliary pipeline.

Just choose a consistent style and don't go back and forth.
