Information is not plural. It's a non-count noun that takes the singular form of the verb.
Other words that work that way include luggage, advice, and furniture.
Perhaps you are thinking of "data" which did use to be used with a plural verb (the singular form of the noun being "datum"). However, modern usage also treats data as a non-count noun and it's most often used with the singular form of the verb.
