What is the difference between a sweater and the sweater?
Also, What is the difference between a sweater and a cardigan?
I'm not a teacher***
I'd say that, typically, a cardigan has a fastening down the front (either zipper or buttons) while a sweater doesn't. You just put it on over your head.
It also seems that the British might refer to a sweater as "a jumper" Longman - sweater. Maybe native speakers could verify that?
Please try to give your threads more helpful titles, and ask different questions in different threads.
Your first question could have been in a thread with the title 'a/the difference?', the second in a thread with the title 'sweater/cardigan difference?'
ps. I hadn't seen engee's and nyota's answers when I posted mine. I was too slow this morning.
