Help: Sheela, John Cue Public
"sheela"=== a pretty woman
"John cue public"== Joe Blow= common people
"the/ for piece sake"== a expression to show the feeling of surpirse or disappointment
I am not sure about the "SPELLING" of the above word or phrase, please correct me. Thanks. I heard the VOA words story and as if they were pronounced that way.
Thanks

Re: Help: Sheela, John Cue Public
The correct spelling is:
Sheila, John Q. Public, For Pete's sake (this last is a euphamism for "For Christ's sake")

Re: Help: Sheela, John Cue Public
To ramble on a bit more,
"Sheila" is slang from the country of Australia. It is their way of talking about a woman.
Instead of "She is a pretty woman" they might say "She is a pretty Sheila"...
You would not hear this in America, perhaps in England?
John Q. Public is American slang for "any person in the country".. in England you might hear Joe Public, instead.
"Does President Bush support the war?" "Yes, but I don't know if John Q. Public supports it."
For Pete's Sake, is, exactly like mykwyner says, a gentle curse used in place of "For Christ's sake"... I think it comes from "For pity's sake"...
