Which are correct:
1-The accident caused me to think about death.
2-The accident made me think about death.
3-The accident got me to think about death.
4-The accident had me think about death.
5-The accident got me thinking about death.
6-The accident had me thinking about death.
I don't like "3" and "4". They sound as if "the accident" was a human. The other ones seem OK to me. The first one seems correct, but I don't think it would be used in informal conversation. In general, it seems too "scientific" for this context.
navi.
You're right – avoid 3 and 4 (although you might hear 3 in conversation), 2 and 5 are probably the most natural in conversation, 1 and 6 are slightly more formal/literary.
not a teacher
I'd agree with that.
I wouldn't use no.6 at all.
