I don't understand what it means here 'to have work', could you please give me some explanation?
You're right to notice that it's not the normal construction. I'm sure he just means "to do some work", "to carry on with work", or "continue working", but it came out as "to have work" and he kept going because, although it's a little awkward, the meaning is clear. He also hesitates slightly when he nearly says "more" and then says "far more", perhaps he was nervous.
