Can lead astray be used this way ?
- I bought that appliance because I was led astray by the advertisement.
(I know misled is correct, but what about led astray?)
Thanks.

Misled is not incorrect, and the two can be used synonymously. However, led astray is, I think, usually used for things more involved than a purchase.Quote:

'Led astray' is more serious- it means being persuaded to behave badly, immorally or wrongly. If the advert turned you into a drunk, you might use it. ;-)
