I hope that you can fill in the blank for me: "His company accidentally leaked two ____ of source code to its client" what words are appropriate?

hello casiopea, the source code referred to is a collection of files with thousands of lines of algorithms in each file, so 'lines' would not be appropriate. I also sometimes wonder whether source code has a plural form (i.e. source codes) please enlighten, thanks :)

Maybe this could help to avoid any confusion: "On two occasions, his company accidentally leaked source code to its client."

I dunno how bright I can shine on this one. :( 'files' appears to be the obvious choice. Mind you, I've heard of the term modules in reference to files within the source code file. Here's something I found on Whatis.com: Quote:
As for whether the term source code is singular or plural, I believe it's plural. Programming statments are written in code. These codes form a main Source Code. Once compiled the Source Code becomes the Object Code. All the best, Cas |

thanks shane, but your modification would change the meaning of the sentence completely haha thanks casio, so it's one file of source code, two files of source code? it sounds a bit strange, but then again, english isn't my strong suit :D thank you all for your attention !

By the by, MicroSoft has a help desk, online. I don't have the address at hand at the mo', but if you type in MicroSoft in your search engine, you'll come across their help desk. They've answered some pretty strange and off topic questions for me in the past, so I believe they'll probably help you out with 'source code'. If so, lemme know, ok? All the best, Cas
