together, an adverb, means, in association with, and it answers the question How?

Adverb Test
Sentence: We did it together.
Question: How did we do it?
Answer: Together. (adverb)

each other is a reciprocal pronoun. For example, if you gave me a pencil and I gave you a pencil, we can say that,

[1] We gave each other pencils
[2] We gave pencils to each other.

If more than two people are involved (let's say the whole class), we would say,

[3] We gave one another pencils.
