The first, formerly considered correct, is now largely rejected because of the gender-specific 'his'.
The second, once considered ungrammatical, is now generally accepted.

You could also consider: Everybody's dream is his/her own home.

'Home' should be singular, unless everybody's dream is of more than one home.

The convention is to rephrase or rewrite the sentence. I'm not sure what your sentence means though. Does it mean?

Everyone's dream is to own their own home.
