First of all, elatila, I don't think your question is clear enough.
Second, the question, (maybe) should be like this -->
Dear teacher, can you please (more polite, but it's not a must) tell me when we can USE (after modal is V1) the verb DID.
Third, all I know, we can use "did" as a verb or as an auxiliary verb (to do)
As a verb it would be like this:
(in simple past tense, where time is usually mentioned)
I did that by myself yesterday.
As an aux. verb:
(in negative sentence)
She did not even watch the movie.
(and in interrogative)
Did she actually kiss him?
Normally "did" only shows up in negative and interrogative sentence, but it could also sometimes show up in positive sentence, as a reaffirmation.
Example:
Yes, she really did kiss him!
Be careful not to mix it up between "did" as a verb and aux. verb, for a sentence can sometimes have the "do" as the verb and the aux verb (to do)
Ex:
She did her homework by herself last night.
(here "did" function as a verb)
She did not do her homework last night.
did --> aux verb
do --> verb
Did she do her homework last night?
did --> aux verb
do --> verb
That's all elatilo, I hope my answer can be at any help to you.
Otherwise, I would appear like a total idiot who doesn't really get the question, but playing smart-ass trying to explain things..
GBu..
