organiztions
Dear all,
What is the meaning of the word "organization" in the following context:
"The different roles held by any one of us can be different jobs, different hobbies, different life experiences, different organizations or it could be education"
I can get the role one does can be a job or a hobby.. but how it can be an organization?
Can anyone kindly explain that?
Thanks a lot.

That's a really badly written sentence.

Okay. Now that I'm over the shock of how bad it is...
It should probably look something like this:
The different roles held by any one of us can be defined by* occupation, hobbies, life experiences, education, or group affiliations**.
*my education is not my role but it defines my role
**I assume that by "organizations" they mean different kinds of social groups and associations, like a club or a political party.
The original sentence has problems with parallelism. This explains about faulty parallelism.
I hope this is clear.

Could it also be companies?

I myself got it as "working for companies"!

It's a possibility; but it would be doubling "jobs". Since they're also mentioning "hobbies" and "life experiences", it seemed more plausible to me that it means "group associations". I could be wrong.

yipes.
"Differing roles played by anyone could be influenced by their job, hobbies, life experiences, organizations they belong to, or it could be based on their educational experience.",
One plays a role, like an actor.

I think not "influenced by" but "represented in"
That's what I first got.
Thanks.

Your interpretation of "represented in" could be a little problematic with "life experiences".
