I was listening to a programme just now about what's supposed to be in and what's out. Didn't half give us a laugh when Betty and June from over the road dropped in for a cup of tea and a chat after.
I. What kinde of the programme is this?
II. What didn't half give us a laugh?
Please.

"I was listening to a programme just now about what's supposed to be in and what's out".
It's a programme about what's supposed to be fashionable, hot, cool, popular etc ... and what's not.
"Didn't half give us a laugh when Betty and June from over the road dropped in for a cup of tea and a chat after".
On the evidence you've given us we can only assume that Betty and June dropping over for a cup of tea gave them a laugh. What it was that they found particularly amusing about the visit remains unspecified.

Is the last sentence the reason that make us laugh ? Please.

I think this is the most likely scenario.
Betty and June had watched the same programme and they all had a chat about it afterwards. The programme had said that Peregrine was a fashionable name for boys and they all thought that was nonsense, and were having a good laugh about it.
Thank you.![]()
