    Default A check bounce?

What is "check bounce" here? Is it "are you spying on me?"?

    -Ghost whisperer
jim- Oh, hey. What brings you here?
    Melinda
    - -Bringing you lunch
Jim -Well, what happened? A check bounce?
Melinda- No. Just felt like feeding my husband and,you know, seeing how you're doing

Means: You look like one of our checks bounced.

A check "bounces" at the bank when there are not enough funds to cover it (make it good). That seems to be something that would be upsetting for this couple.

He is jokingly saying that she is doing something nice for her husband (bringing him lunch) because she must have done something wrong (like bouncing a check).

Thanks a lot for your explanation. But why did he say "A check bounce" instead of "A check bounces(bounced)?" Is it normal to break grammar in conversation or did I download a wrong script?

It means "Did a check bounce?" I don't see a problem with it in conversation.
