1. Are heart and mind countable? I feel they are uncountable in this sentence.

2. I feel captured means catched here. But it means expressed as mentioned in dictionary.

3. Overall, I feel the sentence means

The story catched the sympathy, agreemennt and understanding of the people in this generation.
