Any suggestions on resources/activities which we can use in school and that she can use with the support of her mother?

Is there and ESL programme in the school? If not, are there any other options for her to take an ESL course elsewhere? The problem is that it would be quite a job to create science based materials. There are things around (http://www.usingenglish.com/amazon/us/1552440869.html), but most are aimed at higher levels. You could try here to see if there are any sites that might help: http://www.usingenglish.com/cgi-bin/...?query=science

May be it makes sense to compile a glossary for her? I understand it's enourmous work, but there may be some ready-to-use glossaries in the net, I mean explanatory ones. Let she ask questions any time she doesn't make out a term.

Thanks for your input. I have supplied her with a list of key words for the topic which have the definitions in English as a clozed exercise. She uses this with a dictionary. There is EAL support in the school but they are geared towards the islamic community and are hard pressed across the city. As for the title..it's catchy...innit.
