Welcome to the forum, faezeroshani.
In AmE, one rarely uses off in this context. We are more likely to say bad or unpleasant. We might also say that it doesn't smell fresh.

Maybe he just doesn't like the smell of fish? We wouldn't describe that as "off" or non-fresh.
All fish doesn't smell "off."
