    Default Past subjunctive ?

    Hi,

So I've got this friend, and we're debating on phrases like "it's time I went/left/...". I keep telling him that it's correct but he disagrees all the time, no matter how many pages of people saying it's correct I send him, saying that there's no confirmation and stuff, so here I am. I think that's called the past subjunctive, but I'm not quite sure(I was never good at learning terminology, despite my being somewhat good in English :P). I'm sure there's already been a thread about this but I couldn't find anything with teacher confirmation on that particular thing. Sorry about that, and thanks in advance :D

    What exactly is your question?
Do you have some context for the phrase you're "debating"? What's it for?

We're debating whether it's correct or not. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

"It's time I left" is very common as is "It's time I went [home]"

Not sure why your friend wants to debate you -- tell him to ask a native :)

Not a teacher but definitely a native!
