    What is the function of the preposition "onto" in this sentence? Why not just "on" or "to"?

    "Some wearing jackets identifying them as members of the DEA, helped shepherd Bout onto a chartered jet."

    • They helped him (walk) to the jet. different meaning
    • They helped him on...to the jet.
