change channels or the channel
Hello!
Can you help me please? Does this sentence make sense? Would it be better to say "changing the channel"?
"Last night I was changing channels when I saw that horrible scene."
Thank you very much for your help.

I would say that if I was changing one channel to another. Let's say I'm watching CBC and then I change to CTV.
If I was just going through channels quickly, I'd say I was "channel surfing" or, more likely, "flipping through channels" (this is informal).
