Can anyone help?
Hi,
What are the differences between these three terms?
That'll be the day!
Carry me out.
You don't say!
Do all three expressions mean the same "It is impossible"? and How is it used?
Thanks a lot
Can anyone help?
I'd use them like this, though others may see things differently:
1 I don't think that will happen
2 Pretending to be shocked
3 Sarcastic way of pretending to express surprise
As an American English speaker, I have not seen and would not use #2.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
