    Default southern Taiwan

    Please check out the following sentences. Can the definite article 'the' be deleted?

    Two weeks ago, our school had a three-day trip to the southern Taiwan. I went there with my classmates and teachers.

    (1) the south of Taiwan
    (2) southern Taiwan

    Yes. The has to be deleted. Your options (1) and (2) are correct.
