amplifier: An electronic device for increasing the amplitude of electrical signals, used chiefly in sound reproduction
loudspeaker: An apparatus that converts electrical impulses into sound, typically as part of a public address system or stereo equipment
Search Google images for amplifier and loudspeaker. You will see the difference.

(Loud)speaker is what produces the actual sound.
It's connected to/contains an amplifier that amplifies the sound (i.e. it makes the input signal stronger or converts it into a signal that allows the speaker to produce the sound). For example, guitar amplifiers convert the electronic signal from the guitar into a signal that is audible through the speaker.
