give the link
Hello dear teachers,
My friend recently sent me an email requesting the to a video. He wrote:
Give the link and I'll download it.
I think since the verb ''give'' is intransitive, he should have said: Give me the link ....
Am I right?
Thanks in advance.
Re: give the link
In an informal email to a friend, all that matters is to be understood.
I assume you understood what he meant. Give me the link would have been better, but I don't think he would thank you for correcting him.
You are not right about give being intransitive. The link here is the direct object of give.
