Question about a verb
Hi:
I was reading a Chemistry article, and the following sentence baffles me.
Movement of each component is monitored as a function of speed and considers the geometry of different rotor and tube combinations.
The word "considers", what is the subject for this verb? Thanks.

=Not a Teacher=
It baffles me, too, and I am a native speaker. The subject of the verb appears to be "Movement (of each component)", but this makes no sense to me.

Re: Question about a verb
I think this is what is meant. The monitoring takes into account the speed, the geometry and the tube combinations.

It's a poor sentence. Whatever it is supposed to mean, it doesn't say that.

Re: Question about a verb
Can you quote more of the paragraph? What comes before this sentence?
