Someone gave me some useful information, and I want to thank him. It sounds a little bit strange to me to say " It's a good piece of information to know". Could someone please give me a sentence sounds right and has the same meaning? Thanks.

Oh, there is a whole variety of ways to express this

Eg: Thanks, dear, the (piece of) information you provided proved to be very useful/handy/helpful etc.

Thank you a lot, I apprecaite your giving me such a useful set of informaiton.

Thanks, it was very interesting/useful for me to learn.

Thanks, your information is something really useful for me to know.
