    Default boost your rating?

    Somebody said

    Trying to boost your ratings again?

    when his father watched TV where a minister gave some kind of speech.
    And he answered

    Never hurts to try to see ourselves as others do.

    I was wondering what 'boost your ratings' meant.

    Help me, and thank you for your help.

    I'm not sure if this applies here, but in this country (USA) ratings (always plural) refers to a method of measuring the viewership of teevee programs.
